Tuesday, 3rd of January 2012

Welcome back everyone and a very Happy 2012 to you all! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and found some time during all the festive madness to relax and recharge your batteries.
  • Welcome: To Ruth Cadywould who is taking over C12 for the foreseeable future, now that Hester won't be back. We are very glad to welcome you to our lovely Curie College Team.
  • Assembly: There is no college assembly this week due to Year 11 mock results assembly. Please register them and send them straight to the hall. Year 8 have an Options assembly on Thursday morning in the canteen and Year 9 have the same assembly on Friday in the Assembly Hall.
  • Year 11: As you know they are all writing their English Language exam next Tuesday. They need to be using tutor time to revise. I would also like to meet with all our Year 11's on Thursday morning. Please can you send them to the office. I have revision booklets to give them.
  • Children in Need:   We raised over a 100 pounds for this with our College Cake sale and the Guess the Smarties competition.  Kate Hackett's tutor group won these.
  • Parent Mail: Almost there now, some of our students have said they have given in these email addresses but they have not yet been passed on to Lynne. If you have any in your possession, please give in to Lynne so we can add them to the system.
  • Pupils failing to turn up to Tutor Time at all:  This issue was discussed in our CAL meeting before Xmas. Val and Nathaniel will be focussing on two persistent latecomers from each college this term. We just need to pass on the names of any two students to them. The criteria is that they are pupils who fail to show to registration at all on a very regular basis. We have some ideas, but if there is anyone in particular from your group you would like to nominate, please let me know by the end of this week.
  • Student update: I will be send you all an updated version of this for November and December by the end of this week.  I will also email names of pupils who are starting the term off on Orange report to me and Lynne or red report to Hugh.
  • Uniform: Please keep at it, the message about boots is getting through. We need to be really vigilant with this after the Xmas break. PLEASE check them all EVERY morning and send anyone who is not in  full correct uniform to the college office.
  • Achievement points:  Let's all try to reward as many of our lovely Curie College students as much as we can between now and Easter. Remember positive reinforcement is the way forward. (not sure which College won the Breakfast yet.)
Hope the first well goes well and there are not too many dramas!!!
